Talk on building sentences（谈谈造句）
When I was only a junior student who was at the initial stage of English learning, my English teacher time and again told his students(certainly including me),with a grave tone of voices that,"when you are writing,do use simple sentences,never dwell on complicated syntaxes(structures or arrangements of sentences),or you'll suffer,to speak it straight-forwardly,get lower marks for those "difficult" sentences you have used in your writings."
Then,I acted in srtict accordance with what my teacher has told me to do ,and only used some basic forms of sentences,with a clear and orderly arrangement of all the elements of sentences.In order to make my points more conspicuously,I would like to make an example about the way I used to arrange sentences when I was a fresh learner of the language as follows:.
Example: A brief self-introduction
I was born on April 20,1980.I have just gruaduated and took a job as an accountant in a state enterprise.The coMPAny is a foreign-oriented one.I am very interested in English .I enjoy it and I have made up my mind to keep learning it .
Some comments:The short piece give me an impression that it was written by a kindergarden kid.It was like broken pieces of a vase,terribly suffering from a lack of confluency,though it is likely to be favorably marked by my English teacher in that junior school.
Along with the passing of time,especially when I entered college ,and all the while got bulky amounts of first-hand (original) materials of English writings,I was shocked by the greatly burnished and beautified sentences and complicated sentence structures those English authors applied.Till then I realized that how childish my style of writing was and totally deserted the ridiculous idea of "do use simple sentences".
Building sentences ,considered by me to be challenging and sometimes interesting (for you can apply your skills and talents to designing a most suitable sentence structure), is a pains-taking and systematic project.As advanced English learners,it is crucial for us to grasp the essence of building complicated sentences ,which are to contian ,as many as possible,all sorts of grammatical and structural forms we have leaned.It is also crucial for us to mobilize all the thinking patterns and activiate all the potential creative powers inside us.When building sentences,we should regard us as a creator of a new "species" of existence.We are fee to make it ugly or pretty.We take the initiative in this respect.
The rectified version of "a brief self-introduction" (applying complicated structures)
I,a fresh college who was born on April 20,1980,have just took a post as an accountant in a foreign-oriented state enterprise.Being a zealot in English ,I enjoy it to the extent that I am determined to keep learning it.
