考研英语作文分为：大作文、小作文（应用文）。严格来讲，大作文应该分为：漫画图片类 ，文字说明类，表格类等三类。
I、漫画图片类
此类主题已经考过8年，综观8年的出题，大致分为两类：
（1）Type A，以描述点题段---举例说明段---前瞻感言段的三段式行文；
（2）Type B，以描述点题段---阐述寓意段---前瞻感言段的三段式行文；

Just as is revealed in the pictures above, people are generally classified into two types: the pessimistic and the optimistic. We can see in one picture some people, long-faced and downhearted, are counting the nights by the shadows while in the other picture the happy-go-lucky people are enjoying the starry nights. What a contrastive view! Remember, it is not the bad thing that determines our state of mind but the way we look at it matters. (描述点题段) (以小到大)
An example that comes to mind is SARS crisis that has recently torn apart and ravaged most of China. Admittedly, it has cost us quite a lot. Some people suffered from health damage and still some even lost their lives. And our economy suffers a temporary setback and a slowdown. However, we still have learnt and benefited a lot from it. (举例说明段) 4. First things first, we are more concerned than never before with our health, and the environment we live in. Additionally, we tried and bettered and are still bettering our mechanism to respond to unexpected crises. These and other lessons at the expense of blood, tear, toil and sweat are benefiting and continue to benefit us and generations of Chinese to come. (分析问题段)
The best way to overcome the frustrations brought about crises is to always take a positive outlook on life. Just as a well-known ancient Chinese notion goes, the past lessons if not forgotten are good teachers for us all. If we can bear in mind sufferings and ordeals we have experienced, then our sufferings will not go unrewarded. (前瞻感言段)

The picture symbolically depicts how some people who call themselves “scholars” are doing their research. Instead of writing their own research papers, they resort to copying each other’s works. Looking at the picture, we cannot but worry about the problem of intellectual honesty—an issue vital to the healthy development of our science and technology cause.
Suppose that every scientist or researcher does not do experiments, but plagiarize others’ research results, then what would happen? There would be no intellectual honesty and people would no longer believe what the scientists say. Since scientists are noble elites of society, if their words are incredible, then the credibility of the whole society would deteriorate and collapse.
Therefore, intellectual credibility is not something that we can afford to lose or leave it at large. We each individual should start from right here and now, and attach great value and importance to the urgency of the issue. It is time that drastic measures were taken by the authorities to change the situation.

As we can see from the picture, a weary-looking woman, with her little sleeping son clung to her back, is cleaning and polishing shoes for a well-dressed lady. The dressy lady is also with his son, a boy, high-flying, fashionably-dressed, apparently from a well-to-do family. The picture is heart-rending-- a dramatic view of the widening gap between rich and poor in our nation.
Although a lot of efforts have been put into bridging the gap, the situation is far from optimistic. Take the uneven development of our nation for example. On one side of the picture, some people in the developed areas of country are enjoying almost everything that modern civilization can offer---- luxury cars, expensive houses and other devices for comfortable life. The other side of the picture is that in some underdeveloped areas, a lot of people are still living in sheer poverty. They do not have the minimal means of living, even no money for the education of the young. Looking at all these, how can we stay aloof and easy?
Our nation is building up a harmonious society. If we don’t do something to harmonize the situation by achieving common welfare for all the people, how can we accomplish that noble goal? As a famous man put it, “If we can not help the many who are poor, then we can not save the few who are rich.” Effective measures need to be taken to help the poor so that we can work towards a harmonious nation where the rich is just and the poor secure.

This is not an uncommon picture in our life: there are many occasions in which so many people don’t abide by the rules. What picture above intends to convey is a typical example. As we can see form it, instead of waiting in the line and behaving themselves, some young people are deliberately shoving and pushing among throngs of passengers. They make troubles and create chaos, causing damages to the public property, as we see it----the bus door already turned loose.
Our nation takes pride in having a fine tradition of civility and respect and politeness. This and other negative pictures are running against such a tradition and do a lot harm to society. Not only the rule of law and order but also normal life can be affected and damaged. And worse still, young children might regard these people as examples and follow suit. And this moral loss is far-reaching and irrevocable (beyond repair).
All the members of the society abiding by the rules can solve the depressing problem altogether. If each of us complies with the rules, our nation can build up a more positive image. Thus, we can pave the way to a society of civility, compassion, courage and character.
